Oktoberfest 2013 - Welcome Letter...

Dear Guest,

It’s that time of year again and soon we will be together at the Oktoberfest in Huntingdon. This letter contains all the information that you will need prior to setting off to the event.

We also attach with this letter a map showing you where the hotel is located. If you have any questions concerning directions or travel, please do not hesitate to call us on 0800 084 2013.

Check in time
You are able to check in to your room from 2pm on Friday the 18
th October. Please note: You are welcome to travel to the hotel before this time but you will not be able to check in before 2pm. If you ask at reception to check in before 2pm you will be told to come back at 2pm.

At Check in you will be greeted by members of the WERSI team who will give you one of our welcome packs, which contains a souvenir program per person, concert timings, lesson timings and dinner table allocations and any other information needed.

Welcome Concert

The festival starts at 4pm with a welcome concert in the main concert hall, which is called the Cambridge Suite. There will also be complimentary Teas, Coffees and Scones served at this time.

Dinner is served promptly at 6pm. You will be allocated a table space which will be detailed in your welcome pack and also at the door to the hotel restaurant.

Breakfast is served between 08:00 and 9:30.

The hotel offers a special lunchtime option exclusively for WERSI guests. Prices for this will be found in the main bar area.

Hotel Facilities

Please bear in mind that the hotel does have a swimming pool and health spa / gym on site. Please remember to bring your bathing costume if you wish to make use of the swimming pool facility.

Cambridge Shuttle Service

WERSI Festivals has organized a minibus shuttle service to take any guests to the nearby University city of Cambridge. Cambridge has excellent shopping, exciting and historical points of interest and many, many restaurants. This shuttle service will operate on the Saturday only. WERSI Festivals retains the right to cancel this service without prior notice.

Franz Lambert

Franz Lambert will be playing on the Saturday evening of the festival. He will begin with a formal 1 hour concert. After this Franz will play a ‘Felsenkeller’ evening. This is an informal evening and guests are able to stand right next to Franz at the organ when he plays. Also guests can dance if they so wish.

We will have a large mirror behind Franz for his Felsenkeller as well as the two large projector screens so that people can still see the keys of Franz’s organ even with people dancing and stood by his organ.

Concert Hall Seating

Regular attendees to our festival will recall the option to reserve a seat for the whole weekend. Please note that we are not running this scheme this year and seating will be first come first served basis each evening. The reason for this is due to the concert hall being changed around on the Saturday evening and we cannot guarantee that all seats would be placed back in exactly the same place for the Sunday. We hope that you understand the reason for this.

Tech Sessions and Lessons

All tech sessions and lessons are held on the 1st floor of the hotel next to the WERSI shop. Details of these lessons and timings can be found in your welcome pack upon arrival. These lessons are informal and you can attend any lesson at any time without having to prior book a place.

The WERSI shop this year is located on the 1st floor of the hotel in the Atrium. Here you will find all WERSI OAS instruments in the current range for you to play. We will endeavor to have these instruments switched on and available for anyone to play at any time over the course of the weekend. There will be head phone facilities for those who require them.

WERSI Classic Organ Exhibition

This year we will be bringing with us our famous collection of vintage WERSI organs including the Helios, the Saturn, the Galaxy and the Spectra. All of these instruments are fully working and will be available for guests to play at certain times during the weekend. Please note that the exhibition is directly outside the main concert hall and these organs will not be turned on whenever there is something happening in the main concert hall.

We recommend that guests bring a camera so they can take photos of these organs and photos of the artists. Please note we ask all guests to not take photos of any artists whilst they are onstage. Photo calls will be available of each artist after they have completed their concert.

Video Cameras: We recommend that people who are thinking of attending any lessons to bring with them a video camera to allow them to record the lessons for future playback. Please note that this playback must only be for personal use and cannot be used for public performance, uploading to the internet or financial gain.

We remind our guests that Video Recording of any concerts is strictly forbidden.

Checkout Time

Checkout time is after Breakfast on the Monday Morning.

There is free car parking facilities at the hotel for all guests. You will need to obtain the code from the main reception to exit the car park. Please see the reception staff.

Best regards,
